The competition came into being through a desire to bring well structured, visually attractive websites that are bristling with new ideas to a wider audience. For companies or organisations the website acts as a business card, and emphasis on quality websites is increasing all the time. The competition offers an opportunity for companies and organisations who have investing in a quality site to gain publicity for it and to test it against other quality sites. Websites will also gain independent assessment by means of the competition, which will further disseminate new ideas and development opportunities to many others planning to refine or renew their own websites.
